Peter Maness: Bassist Peter Maness began playing electric bass in middle school and then switched to Double Bass at 18 as he became more immersed in Jazz. He quickly began working in his hometown of Greensboro, NC and continued to do so until his graduation from Guilford College in 2000 with degrees in both Music and Spanish. For the next three years he made a foray into the realm of education, teaching high school Spanish. In 2003 he enrolled in the Miles Davis school of music at UNCG where he furthered his studies for two years. During this time he had the opportunity to perform with guests Ellis Marsalis and Terri Lynn Carrington, as well as perform his arrangement of a Dewey Redman tune with Dewey himself. In July of 2005 Peter moved to NYC to further his career and promptly landed a cruise ship gig with a Jazz trio and singer, which took him to Alaska and Hawaii for 5 months. Currently he resides in Sunset Park, Brooklyn and studies with Ben Street. |
